Trophy Design

28 11 2007

Visual Studies project, otherwise known as 3D Design.

Project: Design a trophy for Icon Awards

and Icon means:

[innovative+creative+original+neo]

Basically it’s just an Awards show for various winning designs in our school.

First Computer Executions

Decided on 2 colours.

Gold

Crystal

Chose the crystal one in the end.

Mock-Up

It’s quite a terrible execution… but I tried my 80% best.

Mock up made using styrofoam, mounting board, ivory card and aluminium foil.

And this is how the final presentation board looks like! :D

Advertising – Visual & Headline Approach

28 11 2007

This advertising project requires us to create 2 advertisements, each using the

1) Visual Approach (using strong image & slogan)
2) Headline Approach
(test of copywriting skills)

The challenge is how to conceptualize and execute 2 good and indirect ads.

My works scored me a B grade… nothing to rave about but well, no one in class got an A. Guess we gotta work a lot harder. :P

I’m not too excited with this Bausch & Lomb ad, but my lecturer seems pleased with it after several of his revisions. Oh well… I thought it seems kinda cheesy.

Photo Enhancments & Compositions

27 11 2007

Okay, school holidays now! Time for another bulk of updates on 1 semester worth of works! Hurhurhur.

Let’s take things slow first.

First up, Digital Photo Media!

Basically what we do in this module is:

  1. Snap some photos
  2. Enhance them in Photoshop (or manipulate them in any way you want)
  3. If need be, compose one photo using several photographs/images

Digital Enhancement

Simply a test of our basic Photoshop skills, and our sensitivity to aesthetics.

*Photos all taken by myself using Fuji Finepix F20 unless otherwise stated.

This photo is taken using an Olympus camera.
Used the brush to colourize the whole image. Painted the sky and made the flower petals stand out more, with a touch of transparency in subtle light.

Nothing much done to this. Brightened up the cat’s eyes so that the the eye contact is more intense. Increased the saturations of blue, red and yellow.

Colour photo converted to black and white to bring out contrasts.
Used dodge and burn to bring out the highlights and darken the shadows respectively.

Photo Composition

More concept based, and also a test of photoshop skills to merge several photos into one. Tough part is to make them look natural.

Chose to make a series of ads for the Uniqueness of Singapore.
