Corporate Identity Design

18 01 2008

In this project, we gotta redesign or create a corporate identity for a chosen company.

Subsequently, a set of stationary (name card, letterhead, envelope) and a design manual has to be designed and produced.

I chose to create a corporate identity for a design studio called Genesis.

The logo is created by myself using Macromedia Freehand.

Here’s the work process of the Design Manual:

I like my creations, but I think my name card looks boring. What do you think?

Shop for Rent Advertising Campaign

18 01 2008

Basically this is an advertising campaign for the awareness of a shop for rent at Chinatown. My client is Lend Lease Asia Pte Ltd and our advertising campaign aims to spread the word of them having a shop to rent to potential entrepreneurs.

The campaign includes

  1. Advertisement on the Classifieds (Creative Media Buy)
  2. Floor stickers
  3. Direct Mailer Pack

My target group is any entrepreneur who wants to start a Authentic Chinese Restaurant at Chinatown. So yea, my design elements gotta be that of Chinese motifs and everthing oriental.

Classified Ad:

Brought in the fortune cookie element, which brings the “fortune” of it’s time to cook up a storm! This will capture attention of potential chefs/businessmen who wants to venture into the F&B business. It will then bring them to the details of the shop that is up for rent.

Direct Mailer Pack:

Contents inside:

Brochure, souvenir, fortune cookie (with discount coupon attached), reply slip

The brochure is inserted into an envelope which has an intricate die-cut:

The souvenir:

An Oriental candle shade!

This is how it looks when lighted up:

My DM Pack got sent for the Springleaf Creative Awards Competition, but erm, I think I didn’t get shortlisted as a finalist. No news from them whatsoever. =|

Quite disappointing… oh well but I had fun doing this project! :D Advertising really powers up your brains.

Photography & Calendar Design

17 01 2008

These photos were taken using a film camera then entirely developed in the dark room. It’s quite an experience, especially the enlarging part. Pretty frustrating sometimes, trying to find the right exposure time and right aperture.

6 photos are required and each has to have the below elements:

1) Line
2) Shape
3) Form
4) Texture
5) Pattern
6) Scale & Proportion

After developing and choosing 6 photographs, we gotta include them in a self-designed calendar.

Here’s what I got:

Budget Airline – Jetstar Asia

9 01 2008

Design Drawing is all about illustrations and more illustrations. Not my forte definitely. Hah…

Am still practicing, but have slowly found my style of drawing. Still room for lots of developments though.

So anyway, this has got to be a advertising campaign for Jetstar Asia, promoting:

1) Online booking service
2) Fast and short check in time
3) Travel to exotic places/countries
4) Efficient/good on flight service

4 postcard designs and 1 junior page ad is required.

Online Booking of flights:

Cut check-in time:

Flights to exotic countries:

Efficient on flight service:

Junior Page Ad:

All hand-drawn and touched up using Adobe Photoshop.

Am not exactly pleased with how things turn out for this project. Eh, to be more precise, I did not put in 100% effort in this. No excuses because I procrastinated. Even the copywriting was quite a mess. Haha… Oh well I guess I deserved the grade B that I was given.

Shall put in more effort next time because I can’t seem to ever get A for Design Drawing!

Re-layout of a Magazine

8 01 2008

This assignment is simply a practise of using grids.

Choose a magazine of any genre and do a relayout of at least 12 pages, including cover, contents page, regulars and cover story (at least 3 spreads).

***

I chose a magazine that was originally called “Singapore Arts Festival 2007″. Published by The Business Times. So I did a redesign of the cover, and a re-layout.

Cover:

The eye was chosen to be the main motif of the cover because the Singapore Arts Festival 2007 was a visual affair for all genres of the performing arts. Basically it was a real visual treat for audiences from dance, fashion shows, and even to the PLAY! Musical – it featured a large orchestra playing beneath 3 large screens that projected games’ animations.

Contents Page:

Regulars:

Special Feature:

Cover Story:

I had great fun working on this project. Just that the huge amounts of scanning and slow speed of working at 300 dpi were quite a bitch.

Well, what can I say? I love to be grid-dy! :D

Chingay Postcards Illustration

3 01 2008

This assignment requires us to do up illustrations for a set of Chingay Postcards.

My theme was basically on the fashion galore of Chingay in abstract form.

Last postcard looks familiar to you? Oops… haha! Well I thought it was appropriate to reuse some of my previous illustrations. Save time save energy! :P

Uptown Girl Songbook

3 01 2008

We were required to do up a set of illustrations for a chosen song, and subsequently produce them into the form of a songbook, inclusive of a CD face design.

I chose the song Uptown Girl! Really upbeat and lovely song. Makes me happy whenever I listen to it. ;)

Here’s what was done:

Hard cover exterior

The hardcover was self made – folded from a board easily available at Art Friend. The design is printed on sticker and pasted over the cover.

Inside holds the CD and the songbook itself.

And when you flip the pages, you’d see these…

I’ve only selected a few pages which I like. ;)

That’s all! :D
